Back from Zaragoza. 2: People around

This is a sequel of the previous post.
All the drawings are portraits (or so) of the people I met those days while attending lectures, eating, drinking, talking, walking, singing, dancing...

People here and there

Some weeks ago, while I was in Croatia, I started a new pocket sketchbook.
Even if I use to change subjects and tools, this new sketchbook took suddenly some kind of "personality" that hasn't changed so far. Now I'm on page 35 (more or less in the middle) and trying to keep the continuity till the end.

Vacation (2nd. part)

More from my vacation in Porec, Croatia. Apart from the sketches of the previous post, I made 66 quick portraits of the people around. 52 of them can be seen on the last pages of this sketchbook (at that point I ended it and started another one, not ready yet). These are some samples.

Bus sketching

I work at home so I don't take the bus everyday, but when it happens it's one of my favorite places to sketch. It's not easy because the shaking, but it's funny to take aim while the bus runs and shoot strokes madly fast in the few seconds it remains stopped .

This beautiful lady was sleeping when I got the bus, and still she was sleeping when I got off about 35 minutes after. She wore very elegant clothes and seemed to be a tired businesswoman, except because it's not usual to see businessmen and mainly businesswomen on the bus in Bologna.

This little old white haired woman wore a pair of big odd old fashioned glasses. She moved her head jerkily with her lively eyes behind the jumbo glasses fixing everything like a chihuahua.

A couple of quickies I made in may diary (no sketch gear with me that day, it's not usual) with some watercolor washes put afterwards at home.

21th SketchCrawl in Bologna

This SketchCrawl was planned worldwide for january 10, but here in Bologna we couldn't make it (someone was snowed under with work, someone was snowed under with flu, someone was snowed under with fear... to get actually snowed under with snow).
We decided to make an alternative SC last saturday and here are the sketches I made. There was many people from off-Bologna and many new faces. Why don't we make it more often?
More stuff here.

Crowd & snake v.1 (doodle)

I started this in november on a train between Lyon and Clermont-Ferrand and finished it on the way back. I put some watercolor while waiting on the airport. It has something to do with this, apart that both started as non planned doodles and suddenly found their way.

20th Worldwide SketchCrawl in Bologna

These are the sketches I made last saturday in Bologna during the 20th SketchCrawl. I had to deliver a job so I must work all night on friday, I went to bed at 7:00, woke up at 9:00 took a shower and went to Piazza San Francesco were our first meeting took place. It was a funny day (as every SketchCrawl) and I forgot my tiredness till I came home (and went to bed at 9:00 and slept 11 hours in a row). More stuff here.

People next

We were in Gardaland, a fun fair near Garda Lake about 130 km from home. After a sandwich break the kids were all fresh and bouncing, while big people needed some coffee (or better some siesta).

In memoriam Luciano

Last days italian TV has been full of odes to this big man, so I couldn't avoid to make some scribbles.
He was not my favorite (let's forget some raids in "foreign" repertoire) but there were some roles he sang as no one ever did.

Card game

Weekend in Cori, a little town 70 km south Rome.
These were some old men who played cards outdoors at the main square.

Actually there were only two men who played.
The others just watched the game.

Beauty and the beast

Last week I used a working trip to Seville as a pretext to visit some friends in Cadiz and my family in Madrid. I thought I could sketch pages and pages but the only chance happened while waiting to board: a little girl in loud clothes ate a donut near a black dressed security guard.

A week on the beach

I've spent the last week on the beach. Me and my family went to Cesenatico, a little town 100 km far from Bologna, in the area of the Adriatic shore called Riviera Romagnola.
Obviously, I had sooooo much time to skecth.

This was my "studio" while making the previous two sketches.
