In the morning Parque Colón reminded me "Mondays in the Sun", the great film by Fernando Leon de Aranoa. Many men alone or in small groups of two or three. Some few women, that say hello, make a short stop, and go because they have something to do. Long silences and suddenly a desultory phrase, a sententious answer, cut and thrust, conversations quickly turned into arguments just to see who prevails, and suddenly everything flops and let's start again. Categorical statements about trivia, enormous security in what they say and how they say it. Wasted energy. Big heat, little to do, too much life ahead to live it waiting.

One of the few points on which I don't agree with Woody Allen is about pigeons. I hate them as much as he does and I found very funny calling them "rats with wings" but I'm not sure if I should call them this way. I can't figure children playing with rats the way they played with pigeons in Parque Colón.
