As always, friday, the first of the 3 days of the Clermont-Ferrand Rendez-Vous du Carnet de Voyage is dedicated to the schools. Children come in droves from early in the morning, it's a bit scary but most of them are kind and respectful.  With more, less or no shyness, but always politely they ask you to draw something on their notebooks. I say, what about a portrait? All of them enlighten their eyes and say... yes!!
I always feel embarrassed when drawing children, I would like to catch the delicacy of her features and the innocence of their looks, issues not easy for me as I'm used to extract just the opposite on the portraits I often do. Much more if the person is looking at me while I draw. Luckily my hand must be on its right day and I link a series that pelease the kids and gets me reasonably satisfied.
At the beginning I forget to take out the camera to photograph the drawings, since I'll probably never see them again, so I can only bring here just a few of them.

Clermont children #1: Theo. Clermont children #2: Alban. Clermont children #3: Maeva. Clermont children #4: Lara & Claire. Clermont children #6: Romane. Clermont children #7: Audrey. Clermont children #8: Theodore. Clermont children #5: Faustin.

Some of them, shy but enthusiast, let me see their gratitude: after receiving their portrait made by me, they've drawn mine on the opposite page and come back to show it to me.  It's touching.

Demasiados reyes

3 Kings Parade

Too many kings
In Spain we have 4 kings . Just one day per year three of them deserve their crowns.
I drew this the last of those days, when they were entering Barcelona. Actually, I didnt' pay too much attention to them, the real spectacle was in the crowd.

Santo Domingo #6

One of the few points on which I don't agree with  Woody Allen is about pigeons. I hate them as much as he does and I found very funny calling them "rats with wings" but I'm not sure if I should call them this way. I can't figure children playing with rats the way they played with pigeons in Parque Colón.
