De vuelta a Vic

El primer fin de semana después de Santo Domingo estuve dibujando en Vic. Fuimos unos cuantos de Barcelona y nos encontramos allí con el grupo que se ha ido formando alrededor de la Escola d'Art i Superior de Disseny.

Back to Vic

The first weekend after Santo Domingo I went to Vic with some fellow sketchers from Barcelona. We met the the group that has grown in Vic around the Escola d'Art i Superior de Disseny.

Empezamos dibujando El Sucre, una antigua fábrica de azúcar convertida en centro cultural. Muy dibugénico diría yo, la mezcla de estilos y materiales me parece bastante armónica.

We started drawing El Sucre, an old sugar factory now transfromed into a cultural center.
Very drawgenic I'd say, I think the mix of styles and materials is quite harmonic.

Luego nos fuimos al centro, a dibujar la Plaza Mayor, un lugar al que tengo un particular aprecio. Porque me parece bellísima, por el suelo de tierra, por el mercado de los sábados... Es una cosa especial ver cómo el mercado se va desmontando y va desvelando todas las fachadas y te deja en una especie de entorno fuera del tiempo, entre medieval y romántico. El primer dibujo fue un boceto rápido que me llevó un par de minutos que me dejó un tanto insatisfecho  porque nunca acabo de encontrar el equilibrio entre soltura y precipitación así que...

Then we went downtown, to draw the Plaza Mayor, a place that I specially love. Because I find it really beautiful, because of the ground floor, because of the market... It's a special thing to see how the market get dismantled slowly unveiling all the facades and leaves you in a sort of timeless environment, between medieval and romantic.

The first drawing was a quick sketch which took me a couple minutes and left me somewhat dissatisfied becauset I just never find the balance between ease and precipitation, so...

...cambié un poco de lugar e hice otro más tranquilo (me llevó una media hora larga) mirando en dirección diametralmente opuesta a la del dibujo que hice hace un tiempo desde el centro de la plaza.

...I changed place and made a slower one (it took me some more than half an hour) facing opposite to  the drawing I did a while ago from the center of the square.

Luego nos fuimos a comer a Seva y a los postres volvimos a sacar los cuadernos.
Yo hice esta vista del jardín que incluye los retratos de Víctor e Isaac.

Then we went to eat in Seva and after the meal to take out again our sketchbooks.
I made this view of the garden that includes portraits of Víctor and Isaac.
